XOLAIR

Injection Therapy

XOLAIR injection therapy is prescribed to treat patients with allergic asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, and IgE-mediated food allergies. XOLAIR injection therapy is available at Optimum Care  Infusion Center.

About XOLAIR® Injection Therapy

XOLAIR injection therapy is an FDA-approved treatment for adults and children who struggle with many of the symptoms of uncontrolled moderate to severe allergies, including allergic asthma, hives, and nasal polyps. XOLAIR injection for food allergies is now approved in adults and children with moderate to severe food allergies.

XOLAIR (omalizumab) works by binding to IgE, an immunoglobulin that plays a role in the release of histamine. Histamine is a hormone that causes allergy symptoms, like itching, swelling, hives, and allergic asthma. When XOLAIR binds to IgE, it blocks them from triggering a histamine release.

Conditions Treated by XOLAIR® Injection Therapy

XOLAIR injection therapy is FDA-approved to treat the following conditions:

  • Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria (Hives)
  • Allergic Asthma
  • Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (stuffy/runny nose, congestion, loss of smell)
  • Food Allergies

XOLAIR injection therapy is now FDA-approved to treat adults and children as young as 1 year old who have moderate to severe food allergies. XOLAIR does not replace the need to avoid the allergens, but it may help lessen the severity of a reaction if the individual is exposed to the allergen.

XOLAIR® Cost

The out-of-pocket XOLAIR cost will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.

Some patients with commercial insurance may qualify for the XOLAIR Co-pay Program, a patient support program that helps cover some out-of-pocket XOLAIR costs for eligible patients. For more information, visit XOLAIR or ask your referring provider for more details.

Individuals without insurance may qualify for support from the Genentech Patient Foundation.

No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Optimum Care team.

What to Expect During XOLAIR® Injection Therapy

If your provider prescribes XOLAIR injection therapy, you will receive your XOLAIR treatment via subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. Typically, XOLAIR is administered every 2-4 weeks by a healthcare provider or via self-injection after receiving the proper training. Your provider will determine which method of administration is best for you.
