Infusion Therapy

UPLIZNA Infusion treats neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) in adult patients who are anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody positive. UPLIZNA infusion therapy is available at Optimum Care  Infusion Center. 

About UPLIZNA® Infusion Therapy

UPLIZNA is a CD19-directed cytolytic antibody indicated for the treatment of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) in adult patients who are anti-aquaporin-4 antibody positive. NMOSD is a rare autoimmune disorder with a disease-specific autoantibodyThis means that certain antibodies are responding to specific proteins in the body instead of potentially dangerous foreign invaders (antigens). 

UPLIZNA® Infusion Therapy for Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD)

UPLIZNA Infusion therapy helps to prevent NMOSD attacks and decrease attacks. Symptoms of attacks may include: 

  • Sudden blurry vision or vision loss 
  • Spasms and weakness in the legs or arms 
  • Nausea and vomiting 
  • Difficulty sleeping 
  • Numbness 
  • Bladder and bowel control disruption 
  • Hiccups  

UPLIZNA® Cost

The out-of-pocket UPLIZNA cost will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.   

Horizon By Your Side is a support program for patients prescribed UPLIZNA and may help lower UPLIZNA cost. Patients with commercial insurance may be eligible for a $0 co-pay for both the cost of UPLIZNA and infusion administration through the Horizon Commercial Co-Pay Program.

What to Expect During UPLIZNA® Infusion Therapy

If your provider prescribes UPLIZNA infusion therapy, UPLIZNA will be administered as an intravenous (IV) infusionHepatitis B virus, quantitative serum immunoglobins and tuberculosis screening are required before your first dose.  

UPLIZNA Side Effects

Some patients may experience mild UPLIZNA side effectsThe most common reactions are urinary tract infections and arthralgia. If you have concerns about potential UPLIZNA side effects, contact your referring provider.
