LEQVIO

Injection Therapy

LEQVIO injection therapy is prescribed to treat high levels of cholesterol (LDL-C or “bad cholesterol”). You can receive your LEQVIO injection at Optimum Care  Infusion Center.

About LEQVIO® Injection Therapy

LEQVIO injection therapy is FDA-approved to treat adults with high levels of LDL-C, often referred to as “bad cholesterol”. High levels of LDL-C can build up in the arteries, forming plaque that may increase your risk of stroke or heart disease.

LEQVIO works by limiting the production of a protein that contributes to LDL-C buildup. Some patients experience up to 50% lower levels of LDL-C after each dose.

LEQVIO® Injection for High Cholesterol

Your LEQVIO injection must be prescribed by your referring provider. Many patients receiving LEQVIO injections experience elevated LDL-C levels that aren’t properly managed by lifestyle changes or a statin medication alone. Your provider may consider your family history and if you have any heart problems before prescribing a LEQVIO injection.

LEQVIO works together with your current statin medication to help remove excess LDL-C from the blood.

LEQVIO® Price

The out-of-pocket LEQVIO price will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have Medicare Part B or Medicaid, some of the cost of LEQVIO injections is usually covered. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.

Many patients with commercial insurance qualify for the LEQVIO Co-pay Program which can help cover the LEQVIO price. For more information on LEQVIO financial resources and drug assistance programs, you may visit https://www.leqvio.com/savings-and-support.

No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations.

If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Optimum Care team.

What to Expect During LEQVIO® Injection Therapy

If your provider prescribes LEQVIO injection therapy, you will receive two LEQVIO injections three months apart, followed by one injection every 6 months.

LEQVIO® Side Effects

While uncommon, some patients may experience mild LEQVIO side effects. The most common reactions are mild and include injection site redness or pain, joint pain, and chest colds.

If you have any concerns about LEQVIO side effects, contact your referring provider.
