Fabrazyme is indicated for the treatment of adults and pediatric patients 2 years of age and older with confirmed Fabry disease. Fabrazyme infusion therapy is available at Optimum Care Infusion Center.
Fabrazyme infusion therapy is the first FDA-approved treatment for Fabry patients 2 years and older. Fabry disease is an inherited condition caused by a genetic variation that prevents the production of an enzyme called alpha-galactosidase A (alpha-GAL). The underproduction of the alpha-GAL enzyme hinders the body’s ability to metabolize a fat called globotriaosylceramide (GL3). Over time, this leads to a buildup of GL-3 in the cells causing damage to multiple tissues and organs.
Fabrazyme is an enzyme replacement therapy that supplies the alpha-GAL enzyme that is missing or deficient in individuals with Fabry disease. The fully functional enzyme helps clear GL-3 buildup in the cells.
Fabrazyme infusions for Fabry disease have been shown to clear GL-3 cells in the kidneys, heart, and skin. Fabrazyme may also help to prevent Fabry disease symptoms, including:
The out-of-pocket Fabrazyme cost will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.
Many patients with commercial insurance qualify for the CareConnect Copay Assistance Program which can help cover the out-of-pocket Fabrazyme cost. For those without insurance, you may be eligible to receive Fabrazyme through the CareConnectPSS Patient Assistance Program (PAP).

No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Optimum Care team.
If your provider prescribes Fabrazyme infusion therapy, you will likely receive your Fabrazyme treatment as an intravenous (IV) infusion every two weeks.
Some patients may experience mild Fabrazyme infusion side effects. The most common reactions are upper respiratory tract infection, chills, fever, headache, cough, burning and/or tingling sensation, fatigue, swelling in the legs, dizziness, and rash.
