CINRYZE

Infusion Therapy

CINRYZE is an injectable prescription medicine used to treat children, teenagers, and adults with Hereditary angioedema (HAE). CINRYZE injection therapy is available at Optimum Care  Infusion Center.

About CINRYZE® Injection Therapy

CINRYZE injection therapy was the first FDA-approved treatment indicated to help prevent HAE swelling attacks in children starting at age 6. HAE is a rare genetic condition that causes swelling in throughout the body, including the hands, feet, stomach, face, and throat.
C1 esterase inhibitor (C1-INH), is a protein in the complement system which, along with the immune system, helps prevent illness and infection. People with HAE don’t produce enough of C1-INH, or they malfunction.

The malfunction or lack of C1-INH proteins triggers the release of the protein bradykinin. Bradykinin causes small blood vessels to release fluid in certain parts of the body, resulting in localized swelling and pain.

CINRYZE works by increasing the plasma production of the C1-INH protein to reduce the risk of swelling attacks.

CINRYZE® Injection Therapy for HAE

CINRYZE injections for HAE can help prevent swelling attacks. These attacks can range in duration and severity, but commonly occur in the following areas:

  • Hands and feet
  • Lips
  • Intestines
  • Trachea or larynx

CINRYZE® Cost

The out-of-pocket CINRYZE cost will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.

Many patients with commercial insurance qualify for the OnePath Co-Pay Assistance program, which can help cover the out-of-pocket CINRYZE cost. For more information on CINRYZE financial resources and drug assistance programs, you may visit CINRYZE’s financial support page.

No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our FlexCare team.

What to Expect During CINRYZE® Injection Therapy

If your provider prescribes CINRYZE injection therapy, you will receive your CINRYZE treatment by via injection in a vein in the arm. CINRYZE is used every 3 or 4 days for the prevention of hereditary HAE attacks. Your CINRYZE injections will be administered by a healthcare provider, or self-administered at home after receiving training. Your referring provider will help you determine the best treatment route for you.

CINRYZE Side Effects

Some patients may experience mild CINRYZE side effects. The most common reactions are headaches, nausea, rash, and vomiting.

If you have any concerns about potential CINRYZE side effects, contact your referring provider.
