Confidential, Affordable HIV Care at Optimum Care Partners

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that weakens the immune system. Without treatment, HIV can progress and cause serious health complications — but with early testing and proper care, individuals with HIV can live long, healthy lives.

At Optimum Care Partners, we provide confidential HIV testing, prevention services, treatment, and education in a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment.

HIV does not discriminate. It can affect anyone.

 HIV can be transmitted through:

  • Unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex

  • Sharing needles, syringes, or other injection equipment

  • Blood-to-blood contact

  • Mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding

If you believe you may have been exposed, early testing is critical.

Do I Need To Be Tested For HIV?

How Often Should I Get Tested for HIV?

The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine healthcare.

However, some individuals should be tested every year — or even every 3 to 6 months — depending on risk factors.

You may need more frequent HIV testing if you:

  • Have more than one sexual partner

  • Have recently been diagnosed with an STI

  • Use injection drugs

  • Have a partner with unknown HIV status

  • Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant

The right testing schedule depends on your personal health and lifestyle.

At Optimum Care Partners, we provide confidential HIV testing in a safe, accepting environment. Our providers will help you determine the best screening plan for your health.

Types of HIV Tests

Types of HIV Tests

HIV Antibody Tests

These tests detect antibodies to HIV in blood or oral fluid. Blood drawn from a vein can detect HIV sooner than finger-prick or oral swab tests.
Antibody tests are commonly used for rapid HIV testing.

HIV Antigen/Antibody Tests

These tests look for both HIV antibodies and the p24 antigen (a protein produced by the virus before antibodies develop).
Because they detect infection earlier, they are more accurate in early stages and are typically performed in a laboratory.

Nucleic Acid Tests (NAT)

NAT testing looks for the actual HIV virus in the blood and can also measure how much virus is present (viral load).
While highly accurate, this test is more expensive and usually used in specific situations.

HIV Prevention

More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV, and nearly 1 in 5 people do not know they are infected. Early prevention is critical to reducing transmission and protecting your long-term health.

At Optimum Care Partners, we provide confidential HIV prevention services, including PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis). Our experienced medical team offers private consultations, risk assessments, and personalized prevention plans in a safe, judgment-free environment.

Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is emergency HIV prevention treatment. If you believe you have been exposed to HIV, PEP must be started within 72 hours to significantly reduce your risk of infection. PEP involves taking a short course of antiretroviral medications and is available by urgent evaluation at our clinic.

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a daily prescription medication designed for individuals at higher risk of HIV. When taken consistently, PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV from sexual exposure or injection drug use. Our providers monitor your health regularly while on PrEP to ensure safe, effective prevention.

Other Methods of Prevention:
  1. Abstinence — choosing not to have vaginal, anal, or oral sex — is the only method that completely eliminates sexual transmission risk. For those who are sexually active, limiting the number of sexual partners can help reduce exposure risk.

    2. Using condoms correctly and consistently during vaginal, anal, and oral sex greatly lowers the risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Dental dams should be used during oral sex involving the vagina or anus, and flavored condoms can be used during oral sex involving the penis to reduce transmission risk while improving safety.

    3. Individuals who use injection drugs should never share needles, syringes, or other injection equipment, as blood-to-blood contact is a major route of HIV transmission.

At Optimum Care Partners,  we provide confidential HIV prevention education, testing, and medical prevention options to help you protect your health. If you have questions about safer sex practices or HIV prevention services, our team is here to help.

Treating HIV In Todays Terms

A positive HIV test is not a death sentence. It does not define who you are, and with proper medical care, you can live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life!

If you test positive for HIV, it is important to begin medical care as soon as possible. At Optimum Care Partners, we provide comprehensive HIV treatment and ongoing support in a confidential, judgment-free environment.

Although a cure for HIV does not yet exist, ART can keep you healthy for many years. ART reduces the amount of virus (or viral load) in your blood and body fluids.

HIV medications work by lowering the amount of virus in the body, known as the viral load, to very low or even undetectable levels. While there is currently no cure for HIV, consistent treatment with ART can keep you healthy for many years and significantly reduce the risk of transmission to others.

If you have recently been diagnosed or need ongoing HIV medical care in the Oklahoma City or Edmond area, contact Optimum Care Partners today to schedule a confidential appointment.
